FREE CONCERT WEDNESDAY! Dr. John, Lou Reed, Ivan Neville, Dar Williams, Cassandra Wilson, and Allen Toussaint are among the musicians expected to participate in Soul to Soul, a free(!) benefit concert (suggested donation: $25!) to be held tomorrow at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Doors open at 4:00; the music kicks off at 5:30; your moolah goes to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. (The Clinic's own website seems confused as to where the apostrophe goes, so I left it out entirely. Looks fine to me!)

The benefit is billed as the last event in the 20th anniversary season of SummerStage. Good for SummerStage for two great decades, but hasn't the series already made the transition to AutumnStage this year? Maybe it should be renamed EndlessSummerStage.

One of my favorite SummerStage events was a great concert by Poi Dog Pondering. I've also enjoyed sitting outside Rumsey Playfield, just listening to the music.

What SummerStage event stands out most for you — good, bad, or whatever?
