MORE SUNDAY FUNDRAISING IN HELL'S KITCHEN. If you happen to be around Hell's Kitchen on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, consider paying respects to the local firefighters of Engine 54 Ladder 4 Battalion 9. Fifteen firefighters from the firehouse (at the corner of 48th Street and 8th Avenue) were victims of the attacks — a very high number.

A memorial fountain is nearby, on the north side of 48th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Also nearby is the Raku sushi restaurant (252 W. 47 Street), which will donate 9.11% of your order (or something like that) to a 9/11 charity. The restaurant is also making donations to help out victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Collins Bar (735 8th Avenue between 47th and 48th Streets) also seems to be raising hurricane relief money doing something related to Louisiana's Abita Beer, with food supplied by Restaurant Row's Becco.
