DAVID’S DVD CORNER. One of the best examples of television that I’ve seen was the suddenly solemn installment of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that followed the death of Buffy’s mother. That episode and the rest of the funny-spooky-genius series are all included in the very decadent Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Chosen Collection, a 40-disc collectors case hitting the streets (and alleys) November 15.

I wasn’t going to mention the King of the Hill Season Five DVD Collection but because last week’s episode made me laugh this is the reward. You can get the set November 22.

In many ways the documentary Watermarks is like other documentaries reuniting Holocaust survivors, yet it still affords unique insights. This movie, about the great Austrian Jewish women swimmers of the sports club Hakoah, offers a memorable account of bigotry’s impact on the athletes. The eventual gathering of surviving team members borders on the surreal. The DVD is available December 6.
