I'm going to go with Macy's. Can't imagine that anyone else would make a mural(?) that included those balloons.
You're right to recognize the balloons. (I wasn't sure how easy it'd be to identify them.) But no, it's not Macy*s. Good guess, though!
OK, if not Macy's, then Gimbel's?
The Time-Warner Center? F*A*O Schwarz? Port Authority? See, I'm not from New York . . .
It never hurts to guess. Of all the places mentioned, the Port Authority (42nd Street) is warmest....
A new clue: "George" was here.
rock center? or it could be some hotel...
Go with hotel. One that's had a long association with that thing called "show business."
The Hotel Edison
Congratulations--you're hot! The lobby of The Hotel Edison, located on 47th Street between Times Square and Eighth Avenue, is home to a set of murals depicting Newyorkiana including the Thanksgiving Parade that passes nearby every year. Located in the center of the Theater District, the Hotel Edison was home to the show Oh! Calcutta! for many years. It is also the hotel where George is robbed on Seinfeld.
One of the hotel's eateries is the Cafe Edison. Affectionately known as the Polish Tea Room, it has long been a popular low-brow hangout for producers, actors, and other theater people. The setting of Neil Simon's play 45 Seconds From Broadway is said to be based on this restaurant.
Drat! I was just in the cafe on Saturday!
