BARS ON THE MARCH. Looking for a good time this weekend? As if those fake David Crosses weren't enough to worry about, barfolk may now have to look out for real live on-duty cops, firefighters, and inspectors! In The Village Voice, Tricia Romano reports that, on November 12 (you know...the weekend after Election Day), the city's Multi-Agency Response to Community Hotspots (MARCH) raided eight bars, issuing 79 violations and surely dampening the after-midnight pickup scene with their "unusually aggressive" tactics.

Lately I've been noticing how filthy and inadequate bar and restaurant bathrooms can be, but I'm sure there must be a friendlier way to apply reasonable standards to such places — and actually get good results.
