CARTOON CAPTION/ANTI-CAPTION CONTEST CONTINUES! The winner of New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #29 (Gahan Wilson's drawing of "Cheney" reviewing a U.S. map with "Bush") is
“And in this section it appears that you have not only alienated voters but actually infected them, too.”
It's by T. C. Doyle of Park City, Utah, which means that Utah pulls ahead of New York, 2-1, in the state competition. Congratulations to Doyle, who might well be Senior Executive Editor of VARBusiness, a magazine about "Strategic Insight for Technology Innovators." I don't know if that periodical has cartoons, but perhaps it should.

Among the nominees for New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #31 (minotaur in bar where bartender reaches for phone), my current favorite comes from Lou Primus of Horsham, Pennsylvania:
"If I'm not back at the maze by eight, my wife reels in the damn string."
It's one of two candidates from Pennsylvania; the third candidate is from Forest Hills, New York.

My own submission was short and simple...and, apparently, just not good enough:
"Xenophobe!"
What was yours?

At this time, there seems to be no decision at The New Yorker Cartoon Anti-Caption Contest #32 (guy in rabbit suit in office environment), but it's still great fun to survey the nominees.

Here's the The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #33. Good luck!

Meanwhile, Emily "emdashes" Gordon hosts an encounter session between Adam "Clip-on Parrot" Szymkowicz and cartoonist Drew Dernavich. Thanks to emdashes for the update!
