WHERE WAS I? Reactions to the puzzles have ranged from enthusiasm to bitter resentment, so I am instituting a new policy: For each Where Was I? challenge, whoever ascertains my location to my satisfaction will get to choose whether or not a puzzle will be used the next time around. Fair enough?

For now we'll continue with a puzzle...but it is an extra-chunky one, with very few pieces. Fair enough?

As usual, make your guesses in the Comments.

Looks like Martin Luther King Jr. High School to me. Yes! I'm feeling a puzzle-less week coming on!! Bitter resentment? A bit harsh, no?

Yikes! I can barely touch my computer's keyboard, it's so darn hot due to the lightning speed and precision of debbie's (correct) answer!

So congrats are due to you, debbie--you're hot...and about to have some wish fulfillment, too! Yes, that's right: no puzzle for the next Where Was I? challenge.

As for the location, it is the cube-shaped sculpture outside Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan. As you should be able to see from the quartet of photos in the next post in this blog, each vertical face of the cube contains words, initials, and numbers that pertain to Dr. King. Some are spelled out; others are cryptic, which I imagine might inspire some students to decipher them.

I am surprised that it is not easy to find information on this sculpture on the Internet. I'll see what I can do about that!

wait a minute, here. the gorgeous debbie didn't even say WHERE mlkjhs was!!! the question is "WHERE was i" not "what was i standing next to when i took this picture."

the correct answer:
amsterdam and mid 60s... maybe even 65th

hence:
i should win

thus:
puzzle with TEENY pieces next week!

Scottie-do, you're almost as green as that pear on e.86th with envy! Hmm... was that my first, second or third win? Hard to keep track. You've got to WIN it before you can designate puzzle piece dimensions. Think about THAT next time you're in the "tweens".
