South Street Seaport?

Coney Island Aquarium?

Getting colder....

If this is another subway stop, I'd guess Bronx Terminal Market. Delancy St. has fish, but not those. Is this in fact another subway stop? If so, it's time to move above ground.

David Marc Fischer said...

Er...um...where do I start? Bronx Terminal Market is still pretty cold...and the location is above ground.

And hey: Don't y'all love the water treatment on this one?

Anonymous said...

Lovin the treatment! How bout a seafood restaurant?

David Marc Fischer said...

Sure--sounds great! How about next Friday?

It's not a seafood restaurant.

David said...

It is a fish store.

the pool at riverbank park!!!!

David Marc Fischer said...

It is not the pool at Riverbank Park, but you're in the right borough.

Maybe another clue, Davey-boy?

David Marc Fischer said...

Well, maybe...but go ahead and guess, too. I prefer to give clues in response to guesses. That makes it interactive, as opposed to me providing clue after clue without much effort from anyone else. In the past, it hasn't taken all that many guesses before players saw the light at the end of the tunnel.

So far in this round, it's been interesting to see that participants are guessing types of places rather than areas of the city.

A school?

David said...

OK, I'm game. It is on the lower east side.

David Marc Fischer said...

No school...except perhaps in the sense of "school of fish"!

Between Riverbank Park and the Lower East Side, you'd be getting warmer. That might not be saying much, but it's something to build upon.

"i know that the human being and the fish can coexist." —george w bush

some rundown, once-vibrant touristy thing on the east side in the upper 50s?

Scott said...

the correct quote:

"i know that the human being and the fish can coexist peacefully." —george w bush

some sad excuse for a place near the roosevelt island tram?

David Marc Fischer said...

Warmer still.

Scottie, have you been googling???

Scott said...

asphalt green, on 90th all the way east, guessed in extremely entertaining fashion?

David Marc Fischer said...

Getting colder, though it sounds like it was worth it.

Another hint: The fish are red herrings.

Anonymous said...

The Wailing Wall? NOW who's entertaining?

David Marc Fischer said...

Enjoy yourself...you're warmer than you think!

David said...

The UN.

David Marc Fischer said...

The UN is the warmest location so far...but more triangulation would still be helpful.

Anonymous said...

Okay, so some building/wall in the upper 50s between Madison and Fifth. How's my triangulating?

David Marc Fischer said...

It's just fine. You're about as warm as David, I think. Maybe a little warmer.

David said...

It's on 23rd St and 6th Ave.

David Marc Fischer said...

Maybe a little warmer.

David said...

Ooop, my mistake, you were on Spring Street at Varick.

David Marc Fischer said...

Colder.

This is the view from your window, isn't it, DMF?

Scott said...

David Marc Fischer said...

Debbie makes it warmer; Scott takes the temp back down some notches....

Question: Has anyone tried to find this using the Internet yet?

Just wondering....

Anonymous said...

Okay, I googled (though I was trying to do it internet-free) and I'm still not sure it's right but...“Inner City Whales” Port Authority Bus Terminal 41 Street Underpass. There!

David Marc Fischer said...

Debbie triumphs again--what a talent!

I was indeed at "Inner City Whales," a mural of undersea life by the artist Wyland. The work stretches along an above-ground tunnel at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan. Here's a picture of Wild Kingdom's Jim Fowler dedicating the work on July 5, 1993 with a lei around his neck.

"Inner City Whales" is one of more than 90 "whaling wall" murals painted in cities around the world as part of a project of the Wyland Foundation. The organization, which seeks to raise awareness of the ocean environment through the whaling walls, aims to have 100 such murals painted by 2008.

"Inner City Whales" was originally designed for the Jacob Javits Convention Center but ultimately completed at the Port Authority underpass after the first bombing of the World Trade Center. Wyland has expressed the hope that "the Port Authority will one day replace the dim, yellow lights in that tunnel with lights that'll really enhance this beautiful mural in the inner city."
