The Conservatory Garden in Central Park @ 104th-ish?

Don't tell me you're back in that maze of east village gardens! Actually, I'm going to guess Battery Park.

Gary is warmer than Debbie.

Are you above 59th St?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes.

Anonymous said...

are you west of Central Park West?

Anonymous said...

Are you above 110th St.?

David Marc Fischer said...

Gary, you're a hell of a tester! I was indeed above 110th Street.

Van Courtland Park?

David Marc Fischer said...

Ah, sorry, no. (See way above.)

Good to see you back, Dolph!

How about Marcus Garvey Park (Mt. Morris), are you there?

David said...

Riverside park?

I bet Gary is right, but on a long shot, how about Jefferson Park at 111th St East of 1st Ave?

David Marc Fischer said...

No. No. No. Although Dolph is right in that his guess was a long shot (especially compared with the other two)!

I assume you are in front of a planting and not in front of a picture or painting of a planting. I find that such flora is rather commonplace. Thus I would need another clue in order to better infer your location.

BTW, speaking of parks, I just saw this Trailer Park in the small park at Kenmare and Lafayette. It's both a statement and a pun, and I'd say only worth the trip if you are in the area.

OK, I'll go back to honing down your location. Are you below 135th St?

Just a note to player david, I just went to Trailer Park and I didn't know about Storefront for Art and Architecture. Thanks for posting that.

David Marc Fischer said...

No, Gary, I wasn't below 135th Street.

And thanks, Dave, for the Trailer Park tip. This is definitely a good place to spread the word!

St. Nicholas Park (at least the portion below 135th St)?

Anonymous said...

oops, I misread your answer so I'm changing my guess to high bridge park. Sorry 'bout that.

David Marc Fischer said...

No, I wasn't at High Bridge Park--on this occasion!

Are you at Fort Tryon park?

Anonymous said...

Could it be Randall's Island?

Scott said...

the second pic reminded me of wave hill, but since that's the wrong borough i'm going to guess...

inwood hill park?

David Marc Fischer said...

Fort Tryon and Inwood Hill Parks = too close to Hostos.

Randall's Island = too close to LaGuardia.

ok, I'll go back to St. Nicholas park, but now the portion above 135th st.

Actually, perhaps I'm really thinking abou this incorrectly. Perhaps you are in a park in Marble Hill, that little bit of Manhattan that appears to be part of the Bronx because the Harlem River was diverted and cut it off from "main island". I see a "green" area in Hagstrom's at Kingsbridge Ave and west 230th St.

Well done, Gary--St. Nicholas Park is just close enough to City College! (Let's just forget about Marble Hill, okay?)

Last week, after snagging my ticket to Waiting for Godot at the Classical Theatre of Harlem, I strolled down to St. Nicholas Park, where I supped al fresco.

St. Nicholas Park runs beneath a low cliff, under the towering buildings of the City College campus. Its situation is similar to that of Morningside Park and part of Fort Tryon Park.

I entered St. Nicholas Park via the north gate, where I was impressed by the plantings--I hope you liked the two shots I took. From the entrance, one can see steps leading up to the college campus. To the south, there is also a stone wall built on the cliff. I took pictures of the stone wall and the steps, but it was hard to get a picture of City College using my cameraphone--the view from below is impressive, though!

I also didn't photograph the chess mavens plying their trade in the playground to the music of Curtis Mayfield. Player conflict got intense at one point, but it seemed that the dispute was solved peacefully.

I do apologize to everyone for guessing twice in a row without waiting for an answer. Very rude and I promise not to do it again.

To Debbie, your guess of Randall's Island made me go there today. I'd never been and it was interesting. What amazed me was while we were walking over the entire island, we came upon horses! I was quite surprised about this and thank you for "reminding" me that I should check it out.

I don't think there's a need to apologize--there's no rule against guessing twice in a row without waiting for an answer. Should there be one?
