The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about!!! I definitely appreciate speculations such as the greatest night of my life because I also know an enlarged prostate problem could also have been a guess due to the timing. Whew. Sadly, had that been the guess, I would have had to respond like DMF with a "warmer".
Sticking with the theater ideas, could it be a remnant from showing The Wiz at the Lunt-Fontanne theater (205 West 46th St.) from the 80's version of the play?
Gary, Gary, Gary. You should've gone with the greatest night of your life! Many of us don't know you here, and being a mostly 40's crowd, we'd be mighty impressed. Scottie used to go to the Apollo so he might not be that impressed, but then a 5:04 pee might not be that foreign to him either.
Back to business. David, were you in a playground? Say, in Chelsea?
Step out of the shade and into the sun, Gary--you are correct! I was outside the Actor's Playhouse, where a little "yellow brick road" was painted on the sidewalk for the recent run of The Property Known as Garland, starring Adrienne Barbeau. Previously, the Actor's Playhouse was home to Naked Boys Singing...and I can only imagine what might've been painted on the sidewalk for that show!
This week's guesses heightened my awareness of the impact of The Wizard of Oz and child star Judy Garland on our culture. A "stranger" immediately recognized the yellow brick road pattern. The guesses included The Wiz and Wicked and even Oz Moving and Storage!
Besides being on the yellow brick road on a sidewalk in Greenwich Village, I've also been on the yellow brick road on a sidewalk in Chittenango, where the annual OZFest ends today. Attending celebrities included three Munchkin performers and Roger Baum, L. Frank Baum's great grandson.
Your choices include puzzles (like the ones you've seen here on Sundays) and "wavy" effects (which you can find a little ways back in previous WWI contests).
An untried option has been a picture-free challenge.
I've also taken "creative" requests, such as one from Dave to take tiny pictures of something in a borough other than Manhattan.
I reserve the option of turning down a choice. I don't necessarily run an accepted choice immediately.

In Munchkinland of course.
Warm!
are you at the gershwin theater where wicked is showing?
No...but you're warmer.
The REAL question here is what was Gary doing up at 5:04 on a Saturday!?!
I'll guess the theater that was showing Into the Woods?
About as warm as before.
As for Gary, perhaps I should start "What Was Gary Doing?"
my gary guess: just getting home after the greatest night of his life!!!
my wwi guess: in a subway station, perhaps the c stop on 50th?
The greatest...and wettest...night of his life? Maybe Gary had to walk home in the rain....
As for the wwi guess: Cooler.
Was this item ever wet - even when it was not raining?
I think I know where you're going with this...so, for practical purposes, I'll just say "no." Interesting angle, though.

Enlarged prostate problem? The Wiz?? Nothing personal, but I'm not sure I want to go there!
The guess is a smidgen warmer than the others, but they'd all be a lot warmer if they weren't in the wrong neighborhood!
At or near the Museum of the Moving Image? (formerly the American Museum of the Moving Image)
Also the wrong neighborhood, alas.
David, very funny. You almost made me wet my...no never mind.
Back to basics: Are you in Manhattan? If yes, are you in Greenwich Village?

Manhattan: Yes.
Chelsea: No.
Greenwich Village: Yes.
Playground: No.
are you at oz moving and storage at 7th avenue south at perry street?
No, but you're getting warmer!
That's some website for Oz Moving and Storage! I hope they don't make your things look like they were hit by a cyclone.
I think it is outside Actor's Playhouse around 7th and Bleecker.
Gary! I think you're totally right!
Amazing! You're on FIRE!

It all began, of course, with Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum, born 150 years ago in Chittenango, New York, current home of the L. Frank Baum-OZ Museum.

Here is someone named Addie on the Yellow Brick Road in Chittenango.
No one is more amazed than me. DMF, I'll try the other format for the next wwi, mostly becasue I don't know what it is.

Okay...I think that about sums it up!
Well, since the no-picture option hasn't been done before, let's give that a try.
