It looks like a Tom Otterness sculpture. So, I'll guess Battery Park City.

Wait, I believe you are at that apartment at 900 east 79th and Park with the Botero cat sculpture?

It is more likely 900 Park at E. 79th as I think about what numbers would make sense.

Purr-fect, Gary! I was by the sculpture Cat/Gato (1984), by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, at 900 East, on the corner of Park Avenue and 79th Street. At least one other person has mistaken Botero's sculpture for the work of Tom Otterness. Both Botero and Otterness are represented by Marlborough Galleries, which gets some credit for bringing Botero's cat sculpture to 900 East.

Best known for his popular paintings of almost cartoonishly rotund people, Botero has become somewhat prominent as a creator of public sculptures in Manhattan, though his works aren't nearly as ubiquitous as those of Otterness. In recent years Botero has also received attention for his painted protests against violent oppression in Colombia as well as the Abu Ghraib prison in occupied Iraq. You can read more about Botero's Abu Ghraib paintings here.
