Looks like a Times Square sort of thing. Were you in the Times Square area... when you took this photo?
Yes--more or less!
Hmmm, this is quite puzzling.
Yes, it is. But I'm sure someone will piece things together. Eventually.
Times Square + game piece = Toys R Us?
Ooooo! Clever, but no.
Was this shot from an escalator? Maybe in the AMC theater or maybe the new arcade next door?
No...and no.
Is this in a restaurant?
No, it's not in a restaurant.
Were you at a Coca Cola store in the Times Square area that I'm not aware of?
is it by ray parker?
Emma: What an imaginative guess! I had to do some research to figure out who Ray Parker was! I don't know whether he created those pieces...though my guess is that he didn't create them.
Debbie: No, it's not in a Coca-Cola restaurant.
So far David's the warmest, though it's possible that Emma might be on to something.
The Marriott Marquis?
times square visitor center on 47th-48th and broadway?
Debbie and Emma: Good guesses both! Everyone's warm now, but you could all be warmer. It's not too soon to think outside the box!
music box theater 249 west 45th st!?!
Sorry...that is a box. But don't let that get you down!
roundabout ford center on 42nd?
No, it's not 'round about the Ford Center. Heh.
But if turn yourself around, you might be moving in the right direction!
Temporary tkts booths?
It's not 'round about those, either.
Drama Book Store on 39th (or 38th) St?
Are you west of 7th Avenue?
Dolph: That's too close to The New Yorker.
Debbie: Yes--I think you might be turning things around!
North of 47th St.?
Yes!
Worldwide Plaza?
Warmer!
There used to be game store on 57th Street, west of Broadway in (i think) the Sheffield building. The Compleate Strategist? Is it still there? Any luck with this guess?
Ah, Dolph...you're too close to The Gershwin! (Of course, I'm not surprised. Heh.) As for The Compleat Strategist, I think it's long gone....
The lobby of the Novotel Hotel? And if it's not, whatever you do, don't give us a SIXTH puzzle piece!
You're right, Debbie--more or less! The puzzle pieces are part of the revolving door leading into/out of the ground floor lobby at the Novotel Hotel on 52nd Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue.
Where many revolving doors have single pane glass panels, this revolving door has double pane "glass boxes" where the puzzle pieces are suspended.
This unusual door caught my eye (figuratively speaking) a while ago, but it was hard to take pictures of the puzzle pieces when the door was in motion. Then one day I noticed that the door had been stilled, perhaps to increase the air flow on a fine weather day.
That was my golden opportunity! I took pictures of five of the six puzzle pieces and then continued on my way, content that I had found yet another WWI? challenge to amuse and confuse devotees of the game.
