CARTOON CAPTION CONTEST CONTINUES!

The District of Columbia still doesn't have voting representation in Congress...but, as of today ("Columbus Day"!), it can at least lay claim to a second victory in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest--thanks to this winner by Alex Wellen in Caption Contest #66 (man and woman reading tablets in living room):
"Wait, this is yesterday's."
Congratulations to Alex--now let's see what he can do about bringing democracy to DC....

As California's dry spell continues, the Golden State still manages to stay in the running in Caption Contest #68 (assembly line putting cream topping on automobiles), where the nominees are
"It was a big seller until we had to recall the cherries."
Lou Storey (Long Branch, NJ)

"By golly, Detroit is back!"
Ronald Nehring (Salt Lake City, UT)

"Would you believe a kid came up with this?"
Jonathan Steinhoff (Burbank, CA)
But I'd call Jersey on the front runner on this one.

My loser:
"I just heard from our bakery division. The cream puffs are being made with soft Corinthian leather."

Regarding the Anti-Caption Contest, let's just say that it's stuck on Anti-Caption #69 due to technical difficulties. Anticaptionmeister Dan Radosh plans to make a triumphal return.

I'll keep you up to date on that--but, in the meantime, feel free to share your captions and anti-captions here.

Caption Contest #70 is here.
