CARTOON CAPTION/ANTI-CAPTION CONTESTS CONTINUE!

I can think of at least three interesting things about the winner of Caption Contest #69 (woman in suit leaving caveman in cave):
"It's not just that he walks upright and uses complex tools. He also makes me laugh."
First, it's by Andy Sapora--Nikita in The Flying Karamazov Brothers. Second, it's the first Caption Contest winner to closely echo--parody, perhaps--a previous contest winner:
"Well, if you must know, he makes me laugh."
Jacqueline Tager (Hollywood, CA)
Contest #10 (woman breaking up with despondent balloon-wielding clown)
And, finally, it marks the first time that a state (New Jersey) has won twice in a row! The Garden State is now tied with Pennsylvania for third place at six victories apiece.

Phew! Could this contest be any more exciting? (No, it couldn't.)

New Jersey is absent among the nominees in Caption Contest #70 (doctor examining sliced man):
"This is the most advanced case of Surrealism I've seen."
Eric Sagalyn (Worcester, MA)

"The good news is all the pieces fit."
William Huggett (Poquoson, VA)

"Let's just keep an eye on it for a while."
Steven Lubliner (Petaluma, CA)
My loser:
"I'm afraid you're suffering from Damien Hirst."
Not bad, eh?

Over at Anti-Caption Contest #72 (guy inside skyscraper talking to windblown guy on tightrope), you can now vote for one of the following:
"You've made your point, Mr. Otis. Our building will buy your 'elevator.'"
Kevin G

"Be careful, Lewis--if you fall, your son will have to grow up without a father!"
John Tabin

"You know, in hindsight we probably shouldn't have gone with a Zogby pole. They're really unreliable." Oh, wait. Sorry. I meant to send that in to Mickey Kaus's anti-caption contest. It's... really not funny to anyone but him.
TKC
My losers:
"Your tie--it's over your shoulder!"

"This reminds me--I really ought to back up my hard drive."

"Big fucking deal. You still can't balance your goddam checkbook."

I never noticed before that you can now buy your captioned cartoon entry for $50 and a cartoon caption contest game for $35. Somehow I feel used.

You feel used? I think I reported on both a while ago...and you didn't even notice! Were you on Novocaine or something? Sob!

No, as I said, I never noticed. Perhaps I was too busy thinking up captions. BTW, my entry for #73 is something like "Honey, you know I can't concentrate at home."
