Sorry, but no--though I must say that's a fine building!
For what it's worth: There will be Open House New York (OHNY) tours of the museum's new Diker Pavilion today at 11 am and 3 pm. Call 212-353-0400x255 to make, um, reservations.
Gary is rapidly earning himself a place in The Hall of Fame for Great Where Was I? Players! He wins again this week by correctly recognizing a bust of George Westinghouse and deducing that I was at The Hall of Fame for Great Americans at Bronx Community College.
It took me years to finally pay a visit to this shrine to accomplished Americans. I had heard that many of these great and famed people had actually fallen into obscurity, giving the site much potential for snarky commentary. But as I strolled around, I found that many of the honorees would be familiar to just about any visitor. George Washington...Thomas Jefferson...Samuel Langhorne Clemens...Daniel Webster...Jane Addams--they're there.

Are you beside the former U.S. Custom House, now the Native American Museum near Battery Park?

Were you in Manhattan?
Were you on Govenors Island?
Hmm, the second figure looks like George Westinghouse. Were you at the Hall of Fame for Great Americans in the Bronx?

Yes, many are "missing" and there are people there who are not very well-known today. But try looking up the likes of Emma Willard, Frances Elizabeth Willard, Alice Freeman Palmer, Lillian D. Wald, and Charlotte Saunders Cushman. Fascinating reading.
And heads up, players: A bonus point goes to the first person to correctly name the other bust in this post before the next WWI? starts.
Eli Whitney?
Robert Fulton?
Yes, it's Robert Fulton--one of the big names of the Big Apple!
