Were you at the fountain in Trump Tower?

Good guess...but no. Thanks for kicking things off!

That hyperbolic building across from Bryant Park?

The Ing Direct building on East 53rd St. I think between Park and Madison.

A smidgen warmer, Debbie.

Yes, Gary.

Were you at the Chrysler Center addition (I think by Philip Johnson?) between Lexington and Third?

The Japan Society?

Phew! I'm sorry if I kept any of you on tenterhooks today--thanks for bearing with me!

Anyways...Gary, you've done it again! I was at The Trylons, the Philip Johnson buildings created for Tishman Speyer's Chrysler Center, and, according to the Tishman Speyer website, "destined to become a future landmark of New York City." A spiky glass-and-steel building with a little waterfall in front of it, The Trylons (a.k.a. The Trylon Towers) is now leased by Capital Grille, identified by Consumer Reports as the top chain restaurant in the country. Some shots of the building can be seen here.

The funny thing about the Capital Grille/Trylons connection is that the building, with its long bands of metal, actually resembles a grill. And the little waterfall? Grease pouring off the grill. Or water rinsing the grill. Your choice.

The lions flank the entrance to the restaurant on 42nd Street. I don't know how closely they're related to the lions nearby at the main branch of the public library, but they look very much like the lions sold at the sculpture store immortalized by Marianne Petit in 716.

For the record, there are two lions at the entrance mentioned above....
