CARTOON CAPTION/ANTI-CAPTION CONTESTS CONTINUE!

Men tend to win The New Yorker Caption Contest, but New Haven can now lay claim to producing two female top finishers, the most recent being Elizabeth Seeley in Caption Contest #70 (woman talking to hairy guy) with
"They do say results will vary."
That's seven straight East Coast wins--and 17 straight losses for front-runner California.

The nominees in Caption Contest #72 (man in high-rise calling after man on tightrope) are
"I'll take a cab."
Christo Pirinsky (Santa Monica, CA)

"The board just voted to remove the net."
Russell Leach (Parish, NY)

"And make mine a decaf."
Cheryl DiMenna (Baltimore, MD)
My loser:
"I'm closing the window. The updraft is killing me."

Cheryl DiMenna's nominee bears a close resemblance to the very first entry in Anti-Caption Contest #72:
"Wait, make that *three* lattes."
by Francis. But the winner turned out to be columnist John Tabin with
"Be careful, Lewis — if you fall, your son will have to grow up without a father!"

In Anti-Caption Contest #73 (seated man on phone while man curls around his ankles), the nominees are
"Yeah, Malcolm Gladwell said it's a counterintuitively good idea, but between you and me, I'm kind of beginning to think he's just making things up now."
Tim C.

"I am fat and ugly, so I am not picky about what sort of affection I attract and from whom."
J.D.

Final scene from The Senior Product Manager, the Assistant Human Resources Specialist, his Wife, and her Lover.

My losers:
"It's true: Jenkins looks even sillier without the furry outfit."

"Get this: When he wakes up, he'll see the picture of his penis on my desk!"

"There's something I still don't understand: What is that flat thing on my desk?"

"I told him that my ankle is gluten-free, and I haven't been able to shake him off since."
