INDEPENDENT AND SMALL PRESS BOOK FAIR. As Caren (Carrie Pilby) Lissner has made quite clear on her blog, a free* panel entitled Chick Lit: More Than Just Bridget and Blahniks is one of the events scheduled for this weekend's Independent and Small Press Book Fair at the General Society Library of Mechanics and Tradesmen (20 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan).

The chick lit panel (featuring Lissner as well as Lauren Baratz-Logsted and Rachel Pine) is scheduled for noon on Saturday, December 2.

The fair takes place from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday, December 3rd. Other events include an interview with Michael Cunningham (Saturday, 3-4), a conversation on poetry featuring Anne Waldman and Eileen Myles (Saturday, 5-6), a discussion about election fraud and voter disenfranchisement involving Steve Freeman, Mark Crispin Miller, Greg Palast, and Paul Robeson, Jr. (Sunday, 11:30-1), and a talk on women's rights featuring Katha Pollitt (Sunday, 1-2).

* A one-dollar donation is encouraged.
