MOVIES FOR CHEAPSKATES: LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. The New York Observer is offering passes to a free New York City screening of Letters from Iwo Jima--just named Best Film by The National Board of Review.
Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Ken Watanabe and Kazunari Ninomiya, Letters from Iwo Jima portrays the horrific battle of Iwo Jima from the perspective of Japanese soldiers. It is a companion film to Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers.
The screening is scheduled for a midtown location at 7 pm on December 14th, 2006. To get a pass, be among the first 100 people to stop by Barnes & Noble at 396 Avenue of the Americas (West 8th St.) beginning at 10 am on Friday, December 8th. So get there early if you're interested!
