WHERE WAS I? As usual, it's in the five boroughs. Leave your guesses in the comments section.

52nd Street and Fifth Avenue?
Correct, Scott!
Keep your eyes peeled for another one....
Wow! Like a speed round WWI?!? I'm getting up early tomorrow!
Should we be more specific and say Cartier? I'm SO bummed that I didn't check in sooner! Good going, Scottie! And that's a good photo of that, David...at first glance it looked like seat cushions tumbling out the window.
Actually those are seat cushions. It's the latest thing at Cartier's!
Kidding!
59th Street and Fifth Avenue?
Mazel tov! That's good enough for me (even if it isn't good enough for Debbie).
Keep your eyes peeled for another one....
Yes, in the Debbie tradition I will annoy by specifying Grand Army Plaza.
Scottie, are you sitting by the computer hitting refresh every 3 minutes waiting for each new WWI? Sheesh! Give someone else a chance, will ya?!
Debbie, Grand Army Plaza was what was in my head. But Scott still gets the credit!
Menorah in your apartment after you painted the ceiling blue?
Thanks for the laugh, Dave!
The Apple Bank on 73rd and Broadway?
Oh...sorry, Scott: Cold.
The Motor Vehicle Department building on Worth Street?
Brrr. Colder.
As the late Peter "Schmoe" Boyle might fester, "Damn you menorah-tease!"
R. Kaputnik
Name a kid Peter Boyle and you've pretty much given him a castration complex.
Are you in Brooklyn, like near Borough Hall?
No, Scott, I'm not.
Is it the James Farley Post Office, again?
No, Debbie...but I think we agree that there's something about the architectural detail that's similar.
And yours is the warmest guess so far!
The NY public Library at 42nd?
Correct, Gary--an outstanding swoop!
Oh yeah: Keep your eyes peeled for another one, folks!
Well I am shocked. After I guessed it I thought, "I doubt anyplace that has the word 'public' in its title wouldn't be displaying any religious icons...at least in this city." But, yippee for me.
Dyker Heights.
Cold!
one of Macy's (manhattan) windows?
Warmer.
St. Patrick's Cathedral (51st and Madison)?
Scott, between you and Gary, you might be onto something. Though isn't that a weird address for St. Pat's?
Lord & Taylor Christmas windows.
Warmer!
Grand Central Terminal?
I think you're slightly cooler, Scott, but between you and Debbie, you'd be kinda close.
Mid-Manhattan NY Public Library on 5th and 40th?
Very warm, Debbie!
HSBC Tower
Debbie, now I think you're slightly cooler.
Y&R Building lobby, on Madison and 40th?
Definitely colder now, Debbie. And I'm thinking the HSBC Tower is actually about as warm as--perhaps even warmer than--the Mid-Manhattan branch
The American Radiator Building on 40th bewteen Fifth and Sixth?
The Radiator Building is warm...but no warmer than those others, Scott.
Is it the NY Public Library at 42nd St. again?
Yes it is, Debbie!
Keep your eyes peeled for another one...
Macy's on 34th street?
No, Scott--sorry!
Lord & Taylor's?
New York Public Library?
No, Scott...but NYPL is the warmest guess so far!
Saks Fifth Avenue at 49th and 5th?
Okay, Debbie: You've got the warmest guess so far!
FAO Schwartz?
Gary, that's cooler.
Grand Central Terminal?
Also cooler, Gary, but you might be pursuing the proper avenue.
The Waldorf-Astoria?
Correct, Gary!
Keep your eyes peeled for another one....
Tiffany's?
No, Gary--sorry!
South Street Seaport?
Well, I didn't think that would work but those diamond-like elements I thought might just be a clue and figured you wouldn't use a picture that had the Tiffany signature turquoise: that would be too easy.
New guess is Rockefeller Center.
Sticking with my department store theme, Bergdorf Goodman's?
Rock Center's the warmest.
Saks 5th Ave?
Bryant Park?
MoMA?
Scott takes this one--the tree is at Bryant Park, and it's a donation from Canada!
Perhaps he came to recognize it from his recent visit to the rink at Bryant Park.
Umm, Debbie? I'm surprised you didn't write The MoMA.
Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for yet another one....
I actually spent a few seconds debating the "The" and decided that the minimalistic quality of the comment (unlike this one) would look cooler...but I still stand by The MoMA.
Yeah, keep chatting it up, babe. Some of us are to play... Like this:
Time Warner Center?
Grand Central Terminal?
Congrats, Scott--you've just accumulated four wins plus 1 bonus point for dominating this seasonal tourney. Gary gets two wins and Debbie gets one. Well done, you three--thanks for participating!
Contrary to what Bill O'Reilly might lead one to believe, there is still no shortage of seasonal decoration within walking distance of the Fox building in midtown Manhattan. It's in public spaces as well as privately owned establishments.
However, based on a very informal, non-scientific lookaround, I'd say that there is at least one type of building that tended not to put on such displays: Midtown churches. I noticed a little something on St. Patrick's Cathedral and perhaps something at St. Bartholomew's Church, but other than that the churches did not "wear" seasonal trappings on their exteriors.
Crazy world, huh?
