BETTY HUTTON (1921-2007). Brassy Betty Hutton, best known today as the replacement for Judy Garland in the movie Annie Get Your Gun, also played Trudy Kockenlocker in the risque Preston Sturges comedy The Miracle of Morgan's Creek and belted out a bunch of high-energy tracks.

Here, in a highlight from Let's Dance, Hutton delivers Frank Loesser's tongue-twisting "Can't Stop Talking About Him" with some other performer.

Speaking of Betty Hutton and Judy Garland, there is an exciting and popular new group on Yahoo called THE JUDY GARLAND EXPERIENCE. This week we are featuring an ultra rare audio track of Hutton's live performance of There's No Business Like Show Business that was recorded in 1975. The group also features hours of ultra rare and unreleased downloadable audio files by Judy, great photo’s, lively discussion, and more! The membership is the most ecletic gathering of Garland fans anywhere and includes Judy’s family members, friends, people who worked with her and saw her perform, directors and producers of Garland related projects, authors of Judy biographies, historians, and more! The only thing missing is you. Please stop by our little Judyville, and check it out, you may never want to leave!

I was sad to hear of Betty’s passing. She was a tremendous actress, singer, and comedian.

She will be missed by her many fans.

I have posted a piece about her on my blog. Please feel free to stop by, read it, and post your own thoughts.

This clip is super-excellent; I can't believe I've never seen it! Astaire looks really happy. There's something interesting going on here physically that you don't see between him and Ginger Rogers.
