A28! What can get a politician impeached in this country? The United States constitution allows for impeachment for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors"--but what exactly does that mean? Well, you might recall that Congress impeached Bill Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice.
Should George Bush and Dick Cheney be left out of that kind of fun? Like Dennis Kucinich and the website Impeach Bush, I can think of a number of their actions that might deserve scrutiny. Three of my "favorites" would be the "selling" of the Iraqi invasion on a false pretext, the holding of prisoners without due process, and the illegal wiretapping of American citizens.
This Saturday, April 28, has been dubbed A28: A Day of Nationwide Impeachment Actions. It's a great opportunity to express any feelings of intense curiosity you might have over whether George Bush and Dick Cheney might have anything to do with "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." A list of actions in New York City and elsewhere can be found here.
