WHERE WAS I? As usual, it's in one of the five boroughs. Leave your guesses in the comments section...and, if you're new to this, please be sure to use a distinct moniker.

inside a giant Lite Brite!
In a museum??
You're warmish, Myra!
Were you at a strip club?
Was it at the Whitney's Psychadelic Era exhibit? A gallery in Chelsea?
At the new Times Square Karaoke place?
Hmmmm...I don't remember what I did the last time a situation like this came up...but I'm going to go ahead and give Daniela a win for correctly guessing that I was at the Whitney's excellent, currently running, Summer of Love exhibit, even though she immediately followed her guess with the ol' "gallery in Chelsea" ploy. So good going and welcome to the winner's circle, Daniela--you got it!
I'm also feeling so generous that I'm offering an extra point to the first participant who correctly identifies just what in the exhibit I've pictured.
Tonight, admission is "pay what you wish" from 6 to 9.
wait is it the hexagonal gold (?) mirror thing that you peer into through a hole?
You're on a roll, Daniela! Your description might not be "wall text" quality, but it's good enough for me!
I will, however, give another point to the first person to provide the names of the work and the artist, provided that the correct info comes to the blog by the end of the very worthwhile Summer of Love exhibition on September 16, 2007. And remember: On Friday evenings, admission to the Whitney is pay-what-you-wish (usually-after-waiting-in-a long-line).
Are you trying to get us to actually GO to the museum? :) That art installation is called "Infinity Mirrored Room - Love Forever" by Yayoi Kusama.
p.s. it's a pentagon not a hexagon!
oh, the pictures do look like a hexagon. i guess the article i was reading got it wrong.
Well, all right Myra! It's
Yayoi Kusama (b. 1929)
Infinity Mirrored Room Love Forever, 1996

And yeah, I recommend going to see Summer of Love at the Whitney.
