Is this part of a church?

God no, Debbie.

Is it a public space like a library or park?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes it is, Myra--good to see ya!

The staircase on the way down to the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

Warmest guess so far, Scott!

Belvedere Castle in Central Park?

Hey, Dolph--that's a little cooler (and not just because Fall temperatures are finally settling in).

Is that a ballfield in the background ?

If so, could this be a view from the Delacorte Theater?

It's a ballfield, Dolph...but not viewed from the Delacorte.

Dalehead Arch, just inside Central Park from CPW & 64th St.

Looking at Heckscher Ballfields - the hint that it was closer to Bethesda Fountan than Belvedere Castle helped me determine it wasn't the Great Lawn ballfields.

You got it, Myra! (Nice try, Dolph!)

I was at Dalehead Arch in Central Park. The pictures were details, including a shot of a quatrefoil cutout through which the ballfields can be seen. I've added a third photo to give some perspective.

I understand that Dalehead Arch hasn't changed much since it was built in the early 1860s. A bridle path runs through it.
