WHERE WAS I? As usual, it's in one of the five boroughs. Anyone can play. Leave your guesses in the comments section, choosing a distinct moniker (not Anonymous) so we can tell you apart from the other players. Enjoy!

The new CB2 in Soho?

David Marc Fischer said...

Warmer, Debbie. But what's CB2?

Anonymous said...

http://www.cb2.com/

I have no personal affiliation...

Okay, were you in Chelsea?

David Marc Fischer said...

No, Debbie. Wasn't there.

David said...

Were you in a restaurant?

David Marc Fischer said...

Nope. Not even a GFRAP restaurant.

Children's Museum?

David Marc Fischer said...

Good guess, Ellen...but no.

Anonymous said...

were you at a playground?

David Marc Fischer said...

Only in a manner of speaking, Gary.

Anonymous said...

Were you at a school?

David Marc Fischer said...

No, Gary--sorry!

Anonymous said...

were you at 5 points in queens?

David Marc Fischer said...

No, Anonymous, whomever you might be. (I'd point out that I already pointed out that monikers should be distinct enough so that we can point out each player and make sure credit is given where its due, but what would be the point? I hope you get my point!))

Were you at an arcade?

David Marc Fischer said...

I'm afraid not, Debbie.

Essex Street market?

Anonymous said...

Sorry, I was anonymous although I thought I had put my name in but clearly I didn't. Were you at the Children's museum in Manhattan?

David Marc Fischer said...

Not the Essex Street Market, Scott, and no, Garynonomous, it's still not a children's museum.

Coney Island?
Were you in Brooklyn?

David Marc Fischer said...

Good guess, Ellen...but no. Sorry!

Were you in Manhattan?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes, Ellen, I was in Manhattan.

Anonymous said...

Downtown?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes, downtown!

Anonymous said...

East Village?

A park in Chinatown?

David Marc Fischer said...

That's an affirmative for Debbie.

Parks in Chinatown? I have a feeling they must number in the thousands, at the very least....

David Marc Fischer said...

Eck. I was thinking more about Parks in Little Korea. Not sure about Parks in Chinatown--sorry if I was barking up the wrong tree there....

Medusa Tattoos, East 7th?

Anonymous said...

Columbus Park?

Anonymous said...

Tompkins Square Park?

Scott said...

11th Street between B and C?

David Marc Fischer said...

Thanks for the latest group of guesses! Of the lot, Ellen's imaginative guess of Medusa Tattoos is the warmest.

Forget about the parks, people. I'm sorry if I was confusing on that point!

Were you at Cooper Union?

4th Street between Avenues A and B?

Anonymous said...

Two Boots Pizzeria/Video Store on Avenue A?

How about some answers to the guesses, Davester?

David Marc Fischer said...

Hiya Debbie--I thought I'd posted an answer last night, but now I see it didn't show up. Sorry--it must've gone down the memory hole!

The answer, which still applies, is that Ellen's guess is still the warmest.

Were you at Kim's Video on St. Marks?

Scott said...

Theater for the New City, First Ave. and Ninth Street?

David Marc Fischer said...

Scott, you're incredibly warm!

Anonymous said...

P.S 122 at 9th and 1st Ave?

David Marc Fischer said...

Debbie, that guess is freezing compared with Scott's.

Anonymous said...

How about the Notre Dame school at 1st and St. Marks. Were you there?

Anonymous said...

Ooooh, I got chills!

How about the 10TH Street entrance/exit of the Theater for the New City?

Anonymous said...

Hair Pi with its "burlesque-themed paintings!" .5pt for Scott for pointing out the hair-pulling and .5pt for me for finding the salon.

Anonymous said...

I am quite sure photo#4 is at Theater For The New City at 155 First Avenue, but it does not occupy neither corner of 9th or 10th Streets.

Anonymous said...

That should say "does not occupy EITHER corner of 9th or 10th Streets" despite having exits on 10th street.

David Marc Fischer said...

Okay...believe it or not, the guessing has gotten a little confusing to me. It's true that I was at Theater for the New City, but I've had trouble figuring out which guess is best. Scott's detail about the TNC corner was off the mark; Debbie showed a much better sense of the location, but then quickly added a guess about a different location; Myra went with the generic location, but late enough in the game that I don't feel entirely comfortable with crediting her.

So it's time for specificity: Hurry up and tell me where I was in the Theater for the New City!

Good luck!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, come on! As much as I hate to see Scott win yet another round, he did guess the correct location but foolishly put an inexact location. I say give it to the poor guy!

I should add, though, anytime you feel like taking those random 10pts off of his overall score, I'm totally behind ya!

David Marc Fischer said...

Debbie, I don't feel great about the situation but I'm trying my best. Scott, like others, has lost some challenges for not being precise, and he's also won plenty by being precise.

I'd like to see if this challenge can be finessed. Once that's occurred, the issues can still be addressed.

The basement of Theatre for the New City.

David Marc Fischer said...

You got it, Myra! I'm too tired at the moment to write more, but go ahead and bask in the glory!!

David Marc Fischer said...

Though you did misspell it....

theatER!
you can tell from the lighting that you were inside, as opposed to the 2nd floor where there seems to be a lot of windows
