The Caption Contest and Anti-Caption Contest are in suspension this week, so it's once again time to take stock of things.
For starters, the Caption Contest Map is now #62 among map builder's most visited maps, ahead of Video game Legislation but behind dangerous roads of the world.
Moving along to the Caption Contest, I noted during the last pause (only six winners ago) that women winners seemed to be gaining ground on the menfolk. The gender (im)balance among the winners of the first 100 contests had been
75% Maleand the subsequent 23 winners broke down to
19% Female
6% "Indeterminate" (by me so far)
56.5% or 13 Malebut now, after six more winners, the men have rebounded a bit, with the breakdown of the past 29 winners being as follows:
34.8% or 8 Female
8.7% or 2 "Indeterminate" (by me so far)
62.1% or 18 Male
27.6% or 8 Female
10.3% or 3 "Indeterminate" (by me so far)
Moving up to the present, we await the results of Caption Contest 130 (P.C. Vey's snowman with waving arms), in which New York or California could seize the lead or be held in stasis by still-winless Colorado.
But the voting is still open in Caption Contest 131, with New York's Jessie Birks and California's Blythe Million campaigning in BAT's comments but California's Richard Jones not (yet?) deeming this blog worthy of even a token meet-and-greet.
And Caption Contest 133 is here, while Anti-Caption Contest 133 is here.
