A TRIVIAL LOSS?

Question: What Greenwich Village bar is the home of Tuesday Night Trivia?

Answer: The Baggott Inn—but not, apparently, for long.

This came in from TNT co-founder Caren Lissner:

Good morning, folks, and I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The last Tuesday Night Trivia at the Baggott Inn, as of now, will be held Tuesday, May 6. The bar has lost its lease and is closing soon after that.

These five years have been wonderful. Friendships have been forged and strengthened, imitators have been spawned, and lots of laughs have been had. Oh, and lots of beers have been drunk. It was wonderful to have this place to come and laugh every week, and to show off your trivial knowledge.

The bar has been very supportive, and I am grateful to Tom and the managers for supporting this little idea that Dawn Eden and I had so long ago, and helping it grow. And thank you to all of YOU who always showed up, brought friends, kept in touch, and were patient. I can't thank you enough.

Tom hasn't said what's going in that space next. Who knows? Maybe Tuesday trivia will reappear somewhere, although my involvement these days is limited to keeping the host list, so I'm not going to be out looking for alternative venues. But I will help out if someone else finds one (and hopefully host occasionally.)

I'm co-hosting with my hubby at the end of April, so I'll have some special ending prizes and things of that nature that night. And anyone else on the hosting list below, feel free to bring extras.

Oh, and I will let y'all know if this situation changes - YOU NEVER KNOW!

PS I asked Tom, the bar owner, and he confirmed that this is not an April Fool.
