WHERE WAS I? As usual, it's somewhere in New York City. Anyone can play; just leave your guesses in the comments using a distinct moniker so we can tell you apart from the other players. (Sorry, but Luke N. Atmaguchi has already been claimed.) Enjoy!

Greenwich Village?
Hey, Deborah--it's not Greenwich Village....
Financial District?
No, Debbie, but I'm amazed you have the energy to guess this afternoon!
Soho?
Soho? No, Debo.
Brooklyn Heights?
Sorry, Gary--not Brooklyn Heights.
MePa? (meatpacking district)
No, it's not MePa, Myra. But thanks for interpreting "MePa." Makes my job a whole lot easier.
Were you at Sylvan Terrace?
Yes, Gary. I was at Sylvan Terrace in Washington Heights--not Brooklyn Heights, as you'd previously guessed.
Sylvan Terrace is a cobblestone street that is home to the attractive set of row houses you see pictured. They have been home to Duke Ellington, Thurgood Marshall, and Jackie Robinson, according to the NYC Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting. (I wonder about that, though.)
Interested in living there yourself? Some of the row houses are for sale. Here's one.
Here's an interesting angle on the place.
Oh yes: Well done, Gary! (It's late and it's been a long day.)
Stumbling on to this place by accident many years ago, I was astounded. Thanks for the pictures of the insides! I've always been curious.
