WHERE WAS I? As usual, it's somewhere in New York City. Anyone can play; just leave your guesses in the comments using a distinct moniker so we can tell you apart from the other players. Enjoy!

Were you in Manhattan?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes, for sure, Gary.

Were you below Houston St.?

David Marc Fischer said...

No, I wasn't below Houston Street, Gary.

David Marc Fischer said...

Not the East Village either, Debbie!

Is it in a school yard?

David Marc Fischer said...

In one...or at least close to one, Debbie!

You're warm, Deborah!

Harlem?

David Marc Fischer said...

Sorry, Gary...it's still somewhere in Washington Heights (see above)!

Sorry, I thought when you said "warm" to Washington Heights that you meant Debbie was close but it wasn't in WH.

Don Pedro Albizu Campos School?

David Marc Fischer said...

Sorry, Gary--it's in Washington Heights for sure.

Which makes the Campos School too Harlemmy, I think!

Gary: Debbie and Deborah are two different people. Deborah seems to have an idea of where David was. I, on the other hand, am clueless. Well, I guess I'm clueFUL, thanks to your guesses and Deborah's, but I still have no idea.

Won't someone please find me today?

Debbie, Deborah, and Gary: I'll give you two points if you at least find a photo that corresponds to the image; anyone else who finds such a photo would still get one point.

Wow. So it's come to bribery. I'll take a look.

Don't you like to win, David?

David Marc Fischer said...

I think I won something once. It was okay.

I can't find it! Is it north of 168th street?

David Marc Fischer said...

No, Deborah, it's not north of 168.

Deborah said...

Um,south of 168th street?

David Marc Fischer said...

Yes, Deborah!

I hope this gives you at least a flicker of hope!

Bravo, Deborah! It's a mural on W. 160th Street, across from the Duke Ellington School.

I think the artist did a clever job with the ol' trompe-l'oeil. Note that the backdrop for the comics/graffiti design is one of those tool displays.

In fact, I'll bestow yet another point to the first player to show me the painting that apparently inspired the backdrop.

The style looks like Magritte. Is it this one?

I see your point, Deborah, but I think there's something even closer than that!

(And I'm sorry I neglected this thread!)
