Cucumber-cool Barack Obama prevailed in last night's debate against John McCain but missed a real slam-dunk opportunity. When McCain looked into the camera and regurgitated the old pablum about championing less government, Obama could have clearly asserted that our current economic woes are actually a direct result of "less government." Policies based on "less government" typically enable the wealthy and powerful to engage in all kinds of irresponsible bad practices without much fear of being held accountable.
