DYLAN'S ROYAL ALBERT HALL CONCERT: A TRIBUTE

You know what sounds good for this coming weekend? A free salute to Bob Dylan's Royal Albert Hall Concert Saturday night at 8 pm at the World Financial Center. Folks that I understand are supposed to be there include
Laura Cantrell
Larry Coryell
Marshall Crenshaw
Jorma Kaukonen
Toshi Reagon
G.E. Smith
Teddy Thompson
Sounds like a perfect thing to do after putting your pants back on.

JOAN ARMATRADING

Despite stormy weather Joan Armatrading went on with her June 12 show at the World Financial Center. I caught the latter portion of the concert from the sidelines and heard some of her new material (it reminded me of B.B. King's relatively recent material) as well as very faithful performances of the old favorites. One of her encores was "Willow"--gently and prettily accompanied by the audience.

Here's a shot from my vantage point--as you can see, I really had a prime view of Armatrading's shadow!

And here's some footage courtesy of Big Bill's NYC Music and Dance Experience.
