WHEN HAIL FREEZES OVER. Just in time for Passover and its recounting of the Ten Plagues, my friend Dave's blog come play with me offers chilling information about grapefruit-size hail, which resembles those spiky metal balls wielded by knights and sold on the Internet.
Hail is damaging and sometimes deadly. This BBC article describes a lethal hailstorm that hit China's Henan province in 2002. A sidebar suggests that northeast India may produce the world's largest hailstones, so you might want to take that into consideration if you're planning to vacation there.
Here's a Skeptical Inquirer article about the Ten Plagues.
