THE RETURN OF KONG. I happened to be walking through Times Square on Monday evening, when promotions for the new King Kong movie had thoroughly taken over The Crossroads of the World. Many of the giant screens were filled with scenes from the movie. The blinds at Toys R Us formed a Kong advertisement. Lots of customized Kong cars were lined up on the streets to the west. And in the center of it all was a big hairy ape-thing, available for photo ops. It was so very much like a scene from the original that I started to imagine the old Kong turning up and trashing the whole scene.

Contrary to what you might think from scrutinizing the photo on the right, Mighty Joe Young was nowhere to be found.

You can read about the stage production of King Kong here.
