GOOD BRA HUNTING II. In October I attempted to give helpful bra-shopping tips. Here's another feeble attempt...basically a nod to Gothamist's January 26 coverage (inspired by a New York Times article by Alex Kuczynski) and the ensuing reader input, which is well worth reading at Gothamist as well as Gawker.

As was the case previously, getting a professional fitting was deemed to be key.

The Times article focused on the Town Shop ("Finding the perfect bra is an art, not a science") on the Upper West Side at 2273 Broadway between 81st and 82nd Streets.

It seems the Town Shop meets with general approval. But reader plaudits also went to Orchard Street Corset at 157 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. It's the subject of a short subject documentary called A Good Uplift!

The theater-friendly operation Bra*Tenders in Hell's Kitchen (Ninth Avenue at 44th Street) got another mention.

Also noted was Bra Smyth, which is based on the Upper East Side (Madison between 72nd and 73rd Streets) but also sells via catalog. Bra Smyth advertises a sample sale throughout February.

Other reader nods went to the Upper West Side operation Brief Encounters (239 Columbus Avenue at 71st Street) and Linda's Lingerie, which has storefronts in SoHo (426 West Broadway near Houston) and the Upper East Side (828 Lexington Avenue at 63rd Street).

While we're on the subject: Did you see the big bra cup hanging from a billboard near the West Side Highway not far from the giant bottle? Here's a way to mend it.
