CARTOON CAPTION/ANTI-CAPTION CONTESTS CONTINUE! In Contest #48 (elderly man and girl with violin in disarrayed room), the winner is Sherman Ross of Houston, Texas with
"O.K., this time with a little less feeling."
That puts Texas in a four-way tie for fifth place with two wins total.

Meanwhile, things are looking up for third-place state New York. In Contest #50 (woman talking with man in "treetrunk") there are two nominees from New York City! Of course, those two nominees could split the Big Apple vote, helping the caption from St. Louis, Missouri, take the prize.

In case you were wondering, my submission--
"Oh, it’s definitely slimming!"
--is not one of the two from New York City. They are Paul Reitano's
"I'd divorce you, but we need the firewood."
and Andrew Berlin's
"But what if you fall when no one is around?"
As for Anti-Caption Contest #51 (man with hook in court), the winner is Matt Hutson with
"If the paint roller attachment does not fit, you must acquit."
I didn't submit anything--by the time I got back from my Sunday About Town ready to participate, the winner had been selected! So just picture me with this caption:
"D'oh!"
In other caption contest news, Radosh.net initiated a Scouting Magazine Cartoon Anti-Caption Contest. It looks great and I wish it well, but I think you, dear reader, shall have to keep track of that one yourself.
