PAZZ & JOP VS. JACKIN' POP? When Michael Lacey showed veteran music critic Robert Christgau the door at The Village Voice, he might have dealt a death blow to the weekly's Pazz & Jop Critic's Poll franchise.

Christgau now contributes to NPR's All Things Considered. Several days ago, NPR reported that major critics have decided not to participate in Pazz & Jop; mentioned were Jim Derogatis, Sasha Frere-Jones, Tom Moon, and Ann Powers.

In the meantime, music blog Idolator has posted its own Jackin' Pop Critics Poll surveying nearly 500 participants. Gnarls Barkley did well, as did TV on the Radio. Blog About Town pet Joanna Newsom was a top finisher, but darling Nellie McKay was way back in the pack--tied with Christina Aguilera, Ciara, Os Mutantes, Paris Hilton, Prince, guitarchik Corinne Bailey Rae, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weird Al Yankovic, among others.
