Eartha Kitt (1927-2008)

I regret that I never saw Eartha Kitt perform live, but I did see her perform "live" on public access television in the middle of the great snowstorm of 1996. Certifiably snowbound, Ginny and I could hardly believe it when we saw her laid out on top of a grand piano, vamping in jodhpurs and boots. What a trouper.

Here's a 1962 version of "I'm Just an Old Fashioned Girl."

Here's an old, strange version of "Santa Baby."

And here is her recent cabaret performance of both tunes. Did I mention that she was a trouper?

Eartha Kitt was and continues to be a legend... and it was so funny to find out that she starred in The Emperor's New Groove
