ARCHITECT OPPORTUNITY. If you are an architect or environmental artist based in New York State in recent years (or you know such an architect), it might be worth your time to apply for a $7,000 fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). At a recent informational meeting, a NYFA representative gave the impression that fewer than 100 people were in the last round of applicants for the architecture/environmental structures fellowships. The deadline this year is October 3, so get a move on (or at least mark your calendar for two years from now, the next time the fellowships are scheduled to be offered).

Absolutely. It's just that the architecture pool seems to offer the best odds.
